Join us for an exploration of the grand master of Science Fiction, Isaac Asimov. Asimov truly defined the genre, making a mark on popular culture that continues to inform a vast array of topics, not only in modern science fiction, but across artistic forms and other disciplines. From insight into modern technology to inspiring countless filmmakers and authors, Isaac Asimov remains one of the most influential and distinguished interdisciplinarians of the 20th century. He explored ideas about human and robot interaction and formulated the philosophical conversation about the morality of making robots – responsibility for their creation and their potential threat to humanity. With over 500 published works, Asimov is the keystone of modern Science Fiction. Join diplomat Denis Rajic for a discussion about one of the greatest Sci-Fi writers of all time.

During this time, the audience must wear masks, maintain social distancing requirements, take temperature test and show a Shanghai health code before entering the Shanghai American Center. Please be sure to RSVP if you intend to come. Programs begin on time and seats are subject to space availability. If the room is full when you arrive, you might not be granted entry, even if you RSVP'd. We can only seat the first 60 guests a t this time.

Doors will open and security screening will commence 15 minutes before the program starts. You must bring a valid physical photo ID in order to enter the Shanghai American Center (ShAC). Copies or pictures of IDs will not be accepted.

All belongings carried into the ShAC will be scanned during security screening. While guests may not bring laptop computers to Shanghai American Center programs, portable electronic devices, such as mobile phones, iPads and other tablets, and smartwatches are permitted.
