上海美国中心将于11月25日，周五晚上6:30放映加拿大纪录片《因为我们是女生》来致敬国际消除对女性使用暴力日。

On November 25, the Shanghai American Center will screen the Canadian film “Because We Are Girls” in honor of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

这部纪录片于2019年上映，以来自不列颠哥伦比亚省一个小镇的三名旁遮普裔加拿大姐妹为中心，讲述了她们在成年后公开指控一位在她们年幼时曾经性侵她们的长辈。在沉寂了将近25年之后，姐妹们终于决定挺身而出，不仅是为了保护其他年轻的家族成员，也是为了给她们的女儿们树立榜样。影片是英文对白，中文字幕。

Released in 2019, this documentary film centers on three Punjabi Canadian sisters from a small town in British Columbia who have gone public in adulthood about allegations of childhood sexual abuse by an older relative who frequently babysat them as children. After remaining silent for nearly two and a half decades, the sisters finally decided to come forward – not only to protect other young relatives, but to set an example for their daughters as well. This film is in English with Chinese subtitles.

Jennifer Lalonde, Consul for Political, Economic, and Public Affairs of the Consulate General of Canada in Shanghai and Anton Wishik, Pol-Econ Officer of U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai, will deliver opening remarks for the screening.

11月25日加拿大领馆将启动“团结起来结束对女性的暴力行为”倡议（11月25日至12月10日），这是一项为期16天，一直延续到国际人权日（12月10日）的行动倡议。

November 25 marks Canadian Consulate’s launch of the “UNiTE to End Violence against Women” campaign (November 25 – December 10) – an initiative of 16 days of activism concluding on the day that commemorates the International Human Rights Day (December 10)..

Jeeti Pooni, one of the three sisters from the documentary, will join online for a Q&A session with the audience after the screening. Ms. Pooni is a motivational speaker and a relentless advocate for cultural change, as well as a voice for all those that have suffered sexual abuse.

由于疫情期间，所有到场观众都必须佩戴口罩，保持“社交距离”，在进入上海美国中心前，所有观众都将进行体温测试，并需要出示您的健康码。参加活动请务必提前报名。活动会准时开始，是否有余位视现场观众到场情况而定。如果您到达时房间已满，你可能将不被允许进入，即使您已经报名。目前，我们只能保证到达的前60名观众入场。
During this time, the audience must wear masks, maintain social distancing requirements, take temperature test and show a Shanghai health code before entering the Shanghai American Center. Please be sure to RSVP if you intend to come.  Programs begin on time and seats are subject to space availability. If the room is full when you arrive, you might not be granted entry, even if you RSVP'd. We can only seat the first 60 guests at this time.

Doors will open and security screening will commence 15 minutes before the program starts. You must bring a valid physical photo ID in order to enter the Shanghai American Center (ShAC). Copies or pictures of IDs will not be accepted.

All belongings carried into the ShAC will be scanned during security screening. While guests may not bring laptop computers to Shanghai American Center programs, portable electronic devices, such as mobile phones, iPads and other tablets, and smartwatches are permitted.
